Hello! I am Alisa Riggins and the new Middle School Counselor. I am very excited to begin my career as a school counselor, here at Lamesa Middle School. I have been in education for eighteen years. I began teaching fifth grade. A couple of years later, I moved to third grade where I was in a self-contained classroom. I loved teaching, but the birth of my first daughter brought on a little bit of change in my life. I began to work as an instructional math coach and continued that position for the next ten years. I am looking forward to serving Lamesa Middle School in this new role.
I believe every student can learn, but every student doesn't learn in the same way. Being able to reach each student's unique capabilities is an essential part of being an educator. I believe I am here to help students perform to their potential and help them identify their own characteristics that make them unique. My goal, as a counselor, is to develop a comprehensive school guidance program that meets the needs of every student in the development of their academics, personal/social growth, and career planning in order to increase student achievement.
